Function.app (beta) detected as malware?

#1

I get a “Function.app will damage your computer” warning from macOS (13.7.1) on a M2 MacBook Air. This is from the EP preview beta download.

Manually verifying the code signature using codesign or splctl seems to work. I’m not sure why it won’t launch from the Finder, and I hesitate to bypass the policy unless I know more details.

Any idea what’s going on? Thanks.

Update: it seems that the app is signed, but not notarized. Apparently at some point recently, Apple made the warning for that a little stronger.

apple keeps making the gatekeeper/sandboxing rules tighter and tighter with every update, and there’s little i can do!
i actually had to change a lot again to make the release work in macos14. sorry about that, doing all i can over here.

best, hansi.

Thanks for the reply! I know you’re probably busy working on getting the release out.

Oscillosocpe.app shows up as properly notarized and launches properly (with only the “downloaded from the Internet” warning). I accept that sometimes things get missed or omitted in the beta process.
