Looking for a solution

I’m very new to this, but have been researching for quite a while now. I’m wanting to play a music file through an mp3 player, but it’s much less clear and blurry opposed to directly from my laptop. Should I be running the mp3 player output connections through something prior to the oscilloscope instead of direct? An audio mixer perhaps? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

anyways, your setup seems fine, especially if the one end of the splitter goes into an amp/preamp, and the other into the oscilloscope.

i guess you have two things to take care of:

  • playing from mp3 will show you the compression artifacts
  • your dac may or may not be DC coupled. if it isn’t, then the image will always self-center
