OsciStudio not opening on MacOS with Apple Silicone

#1

OsciStudio Version: any
Operating System: Mac OS Ventura (M1)

Hi, I have just purchased the software, I have attempted downloading all versions with no luck upon opening. I have bypassed the OS security measures, so not that.

upon opening, the app bounces on the dock, before becoming unresponsive and eventually closing itself.

standalone oscilloscope app works no problem, but I remember having a similar issue when I first downloaded which seemed to fix itself eventually.

I have tried reinstalling multiple times with no luck.

I will update this thread if the issue solves itself again, if I have not updated, assume its still not working.

still no luck, but I will attempt downloading on my intel Mac

#3

works on the intel Mac, but would be handy if anyone knows a fix for the silicone chip Macs

#4

hi!

it should definitely work in apple silicone. at least… i’m using it on apple silicone myself

did you “right click > open” oscistudio the first time?

#5

Hi, thanks for your response! I assumed it should be working, but have still had no luck on the M1, I right clicked and then selected open each time, to no avail. I followed the steps identically on the Intel Mac and it worked first time

#6

hm… that’s quite odd.

are you comfortable launching it from terminal and sending me the output?

you might have to adjust the path a bit, but basically open a terminal and type this:

/Applications/OsciStudio.app/Contents/MacOS/OsciStudio

#7

not quite sure if I did that correctly, but this is what I got:

ethanbennett@Ethans-Air ~ % /Applications/OsciStudio.app/Contents/MacOS/OsciStudio ; exit;

ok!

#8

i’m confused by this. is “ok!” the output you get?

because i just double checked, and oscistudio never outputs “ok!” ever. it should start with this:

Initalizing global settings ...
LAUNCH DESKTOP

can you redownload? just to make sure you got the right version (A7.0.4)

#9

I’m just as confused as you lol - just redownloaded, and tried again, received this output:no such file or directory: /Applications/OsciStudio.app/Contents/MacOS/OsciStudio
I also dragged the path for OsciStudio.app straight into the terminal, this presented me with ‘access denied’ even after deleting all xattrs

its definitely version A7.0.7, however it may be worth noting when I download it, the folder only contains OsciStudio.app, and no other contents

Also I have had no further issues at all on the intel Mac, Im using it for a uni project atm, and its working beautifully
